General FAQs

What is Gloomveil?
The Gloomveil project is currently frozen. Gloomveil is an original work of interactive fantasy open to exploration by adventurers from far and wide. Using the Web as its primary interface, Gloomveil is a rich, cross-platform experience that will be extended to selected Mac and PC game environments.

Why should I care?
As a world to explore, Gloomveil has much to offer in the way of text, illustration, and interactivity - all available free on the Web. Players of online games such as Neverwinter Nights, Rune, and MythII: Soulblighter can look forward to the possibility of a Gloomveil world server, download playable Gloomveil scenarios, or other related goodies.

What have other people said about Gloomveil?
Gloomveil has been recognized by the gaming community and game industry as an entertaining, interesting work of interactive online fiction. See our Accolades for specific quotations and links to industry articles.

Who invented Gloomveil?
Mac-based designer and author Tony Walsh hatched Gloomveil in the Spring of 2000 after reading about the tool set in development for Neverwinter Nights. Tony has been roleplaying and creating fantasy environments for 20 years. More information can be found in our Contributors section.

What are Gloomveil Extensions?
These are any Gloomveil experiences that bleed over into other media than the Web. An example might be a Gloomveil environment for a game such as Neverwinter Nights, an audio CD, or a print publication. Please see the Extensions section of this site for more details.

How can I get you to publish my artwork/story/mod?
Gloomveil is a small operation. Very small. We don't have a dime to pay anyone. If you feel that sending your original work to us without any guarantee of compensation is worthwhile, then please review our Terms of Use/User-Created Content. We are willing to entertain partnerships, affiliations, and other deals. Please write us with your proposal.

May I use portions of Gloomveil artwork/stories/Extensions in my own work?
Gloomveil is the intellectual property of Tony Walsh except where noted (please see Legal). Copyright and Trademark laws govern the usage of Gloomveil material. We allow the distribution of our Banners and Gallery images (see Files), provided the artwork is used as-is to promote the site, or in an editorial context. Please write to Tony Walsh with specific requests for re-publishing Gloomveil material.

May I link to your material?
