The Shanghai gamer who stabbed his friend for stealing and selling a virtual-world sword "...has been given a suspended death sentence..." by Chinese authorities, according to the Beeb. "The suspended sentence given to Qui means he could spend the rest of his life behind bars, although it could be reduced to 15 years for good behaviour."

  “Razer,” “PunchMuch” Knocks Out MTV in Canada

Canada's CHUM television has established two new specialty channels, expanding its already-popular MuchMusic offerings to target younger viewers. "Razer" aims at the 12-24 year-old market with entertainment programming including movies, anime and gaming, while "PunchMuch" is an all-request music video channel, allowing input via wireless phones while ignoring computer users. The two new channels will replace MTV and MTV2 in the broadcast spectrum, which is pretty handy for CHUM.

Reuters reports via Yahoo! News that Google has overtaken Time Warner as the most highly-valued media company, and is "...now worth more than any other media company in the world." Despite this valuation, Reuters notes that Google's 2004 sales "...totaled just $3.2 billion while Time Warner's stood at $42 billion." I smell dot-bomb, round two.
