Taolurker of gaming commentary site Grimwell Online shows us what kind of a world Anarchy Online has become since the MMOG took on inworld billboards. Included are several screenshots of advertisements for Sprite Zero, Motley Crue, and G4 TV. Taolurker reinforces many of the comments and arguments I've made about in-game advertising in the past, pointing out how real-world ads have no sensible place in a far-future environment, and how billboards dominated the virtual landscape.

The inclusion of ads for G4 TV, which is a TV channel that discusses and reviews video games, may be construed as an endorsement of Anarchy Online by G4 TV, or at the very least puts the TV channel in an awkward position, notes Taolurker: "...in-game advertising, new revenues for games, and marketing through them, is news... So, I'm sure we can expect some news coverage of this. Will they actually endorse the game, or publicize this? Would that be a conflict of interest for G4?" Yup, it sure would.
