The Furry Future of ‘Earth Eternal’
'The Warpigs: Pig-like Beasts who are tolerated, but not very well liked by their fellow Beasts. Most of them are mercenaries-for-hire.'
Iron Realms Entertainment, best-known for its text-only Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games (MMORPGs) has reached an entirely new dimension with its forthcoming 3D game Earth Eternal, playable both via a web browser and stand-alone client. The high-fantasy game takes place in a world similar to Earth, populated with anthropomorphic bestial races such as the bear-like Ursine, fox-like Foxicus, or hawk-like Atavian--in Earth Eternal, man has gone extinct.

So far, the game appears to be fairly whimsical (I hesitate to say "cute") in its character design, with early nods to other games: The Shroomie bears a resemblance to the famous Mario power-up. And the Bandicoon player race is "sly" and "stealthy," perhaps a mashup between Crash Bandicoot and Sly Cooper.

Earth Eternal will no doubt appeal to the "Furry" subculture. Furry enthusiasts are well-entrenched in gaming culture, and have been enjoying their own Massively Multiplayer Online Social Game, Furcadia for about 10 years. I can see Earth Eternal taking a bite out of Furcadia's player-base.
